Wouldn’t a ladies luncheonette be perfect? That’s what I think of when I think of this cake-scape. I decided to dub this cake as the Lady Lace Cake. The shell tip is piped with swirly Victorian styled curly Qs.
I call these decorations as curly Qs. Yes curly Qs. My brother’s friend is house hunting with his sister. She loves ornate Victorian wood work and every time he sees the over the top details, he furrows his brows and mutters “all of those damn curly Qs…”
I don’t blame him. After living in older homes, I know the work that goes behind maintaining an older home and all of its accouterments. Housework is constant, and never ceases. Something is always broken or dusty or dirty. I feel like an old person complaining about such, but it’s impossible to get on top of housework.
Back to this cake, this lovely Lady Lace Cake. I saw this cake decoration here and here, and I wanted to recreate that cake design. I imagine this cake at a Lady’s lunch or afternoon tea. I used a standard vanilla cake and buttercream frosting.
If you wanted I would definitely look into filling this sort of cake with a berry jam or citrus curd. This Lady Lace Cake is screaming for a lovely cup of creamy milk tea and delicate china plates!
